Isabelle Lucas was born in Ghana. Her father is Haitian and her mother is Swiss. She grew up in Lausanne.
A sociologist with a doctorate in history, Isabelle specializes in the economic and social history of Switzerland during the 20th century. She lectures and carries out research at the University of Lausanne. She has been a social worker for female victims of domestic violence and illegal immigrants, an organiser at a leisure centre for young people and an employee at an NGO. Isabelle Lucas has been campaigning on feminist and anti-racist issues for the past ten years.
