Bréhima Koumare was born into a devout religious family in Mali on 21 November 1987. He has a degree in finance and accounting.
In Mali, he spent time in the artistic community, went dancing and did occasional work as a salesman to make ends meet. Everything was going well until his family and work colleagues discovered his sexual orientation. Homosexuality was viewed as a mental illness. He agreed to follow “traditional” treatments to “cure” him of his “madness”. Because of this situation, he was forced to leave Mali in 2016. Today he is trying to live his life and accept himself for who he is, but he is still not sure if he can trust Swiss mindsets.
