Ash Bulayev has worked for 20 years as curator, producer and artist, at the cross-section of contemporary performance and time-based visual arts.
From 2012 – 2015 he was the Curator of Contemporary Performance at EMPAC (New York), commissioning and presenting works by artists such as Ant Hampton, Eve Sussman + Simon Lee, Kris Verdonck, Ellie Ga, Rabih Mroue, Xavier Le Roy, Lisbeth Gruwez, Ralph Lemon, Clement Layes, Wojtek Ziemilski, Julien Maire, and others.
Currently he is Director of the Onassis Foundation's “Artistic Research: (Inter)national Artist and Curator-in-Residence Program“. As of January 2018, he will work towards the creation of an inaugural artistic research program and new facility in Athens, as well as developing a new artistic research fellowship program. He also works as research consultant with Flanders Institute and is designing an MA program in Expanded Curation at the Amsterdam University of the Arts – DAS Theatre program.
